Obama Makes Two Noteworthy Picks for Federal Circuit Bench

President Barack Obama nominated two more attorneys for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, one from the Department of Justice and one from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the White House announced today.

DOJ Settles Suit Over FBI Informant Records

The U.S. Justice Department has agreed in principle to settle a public records dispute with a newspaper that is seeking access to FBI information about the work acclaimed civil rights era photographer Ernest Withers performed as a confidential informant.

Lawsuit Over Abortions for Intellectually Disabled Women Moves Forward

In 1978 and 1984, District of Columbia officials authorized abortions for two intellectually disabled women under the city's care. In 1994, the city approved eye surgery for another woman in a similar position. A Washington federal judge recently denied the city's motion to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the city of authorizing these procedures in violation of the women's constitutional rights.
