Forced budget cuts could imperil range of DOJ priorities, Obama warns

President Barack Obama has called on Congress to prevent severe federal budget cuts from taking effect on March 1, saying the middle class, the economy and a number of basic Justice Department priorities would suffer as a result.



Plaintiffs take law school fraud cases to New York's highest court

Attorneys behind a spate of fraud class actions targeting law schools have asked the New York State Court of Appeals to review an intermediate appellate panel's December dismissal of a suit brought by nine former students who allege New York Law School inflated its postgraduate employment statistics to trick them into enrolling.

After long recess, court adds major campaign-finance case, issues four opinions

Welcoming back reporters after the court's long winter recess, Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. told the press corps that the court would soon be issuing several opinions, adding that if anyone had scheduled a lunch, "you might want to push it back."
